In a sign of its victory over the pandemic, New Zealand announced today, Monday, the lifting of all remaining restrictions on social separation and the economy, except for border controls, hours after announcing that no active case of the new Coronavirus had been registered.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Monday that all measures related to the Coronavirus, which caused the Covid-19 pandemic, will be lifted from Tuesday.
She explained that the lifting of these measures, after eliminating the Coronavirus in the country, does not include restrictions on closing the borders, according to Reuters.
The New Zealand Prime Minister added , at a press conference, that her country will move to the first level of public alert from midnight on Monday.
She said that public and private events can be held without restrictions, as the retail and hotel sectors can work normally and all public transportation can be resumed.
The New Zealand Ministry of Health announced in a statement issued earlier Monday that no cases of active infection with the new Coronavirus had been recorded. In New Zealand for the first time since February 28.
